The Buddy Walk is a family fun event and fundraiser designed to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome. Join us for a jambalaya cook-off, live music, dozens of games, crafts, snacks, and so much more.

Information You Need To Know

We are in the final planning days before the big event!  For more information to share with your teams click here.

Silent Auction

Each Buddy Walk team is asked to make a basket that will be auctioned the day of the event.  Some cool ideas:

A Day at the Spa (massage/mani/pedi)

Parents Night Out (Dinner for two and tickets to a concert or live theater)

Night at the Movies

Seven Days Without Dishes (Dinner for two at seven different restaurants)

A Weekend Staycation - (Hotel stay - three days/two nights)

Wine and Cheese basket

Tickets to different sporting events such as Saints, Pelicans, Zephyrs, LSU games

These are just a few suggestions.  You can be creative!  Need more information?  Join us on September 15th at the Team Captain meeting!

Volunteer News and Updates

We will need many volunteers to have a successful walk.  If you are not on a team or do not plan on participating in the walk, please consider volunteering your time.  We will need people to help set up, onsite registration, food booths, games, contests, clean up, parking lot assistance, vendor assistance and much, much more.  If interested, contact us at 504-259-6201. Students needing service hours and corporate group volunteers welcome!

Your Employer is always looking to donate to a good cause!

 

Please consider asking your employer if they have a matching funds program for non-profit organizations (501c3).  Funds raised from this event will go to support the Down Syndrome Association of Greater New Orleans as well as the National Down Syndrome Society.

What is the Buddy Walk?

 

The program was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome The event has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to another record breaking year in 2014 with more than 315,000 participants raising nearly $13 million dollars in more than 250 events across the country and around the world.

Registration Tips:

 

- If you want to register more than one person per payment, make sure to click  'Register Another' instead of 'Registration complete'!

-If you add a donation amount, it gets ADDED to your registration amount.

-If you are paying by check, your check must reach us before the walk to count for your team's fundraising!

-If you are signing up as a team captain you MUST click the box to create a fundraising page, this will serve as your teams fundraising page

-You DO NOT have to have a PayPal account to pay online...you may pay as a guest on the PayPal site.
